Bring your bike along to one of our free Bike Doctor events and one of our friendly staff members will carry out a basic M check to check if your bike is safe to ride. We will also carry out and talk through any basic minor repairs if needed on your bike for free. The necessary parts needed for basic cycle repairs are included such as standard brake pads, inner tubes, gear and brake cables and nuts and bolts. For any additional parts or repairs beyond our basic repair, we will suggest taking your bike to your local bike shop. We can recommend local bike repair shops if needed.
After the Bike Doctor events, join us for a free leisurely guided ride to help build your cycling confidence and improve your wellbeing. The rides are ideal for new and novice cyclists. Riders can bring their own helmets and roadworthy bikes, but both can be borrowed for free including disability cycles. Pre-booking is essential for the rides and spaces are limited to up to 6 people per ride. Bikes cannot be borrowed on the day and must be booked in advance. Please contact us if you’re unsure what type of bike suits you. Ages 18+ only. Rides up to 1 hour and will start and finish from the venues below. Book your guided ride place through Eventbrite.
Your first name and email address will be shared with Cycling UK (grant provider). You will be sent a survey about your cycling habits and helps to keep the events free. View their privacy policy on www.cyclinguk.org/privacy-policy
MORE ABOUT THE GUIDED RIDES
Our friendly ride leader will take up to 6 people on a guided ride along quiet local roads and car-free cycle paths (ride length is subject to group riding ability, but at most one hour). Improve your cycling skills so you can ride with family and friends with confidence. The rides are also ideal for those looking to improve their fitness levels and wellbeing. Learn more about the health and environmental benefits of cycling via Sustrans.
Bikes and helmets are also free to borrow. Those with balance difficulties, or any other problems riding can borrow one of our adapted cycles such as trikes, tandems, wheelchair transporters, side-by-side companion cycles and handcycles. People are encouraged to bring a friend if they are nervous about coming on their own, but Everybody’s Cycling can provide a friendly volunteer companion rider or bike buddy if needed.
If you’re unsure which cycle suits your needs, please get in touch with Everybody’s Cycling to arrange an appointment to try some adapted cycles in advance of the rides. If you would like to a volunteer companion rider, tandem pilot or any other support, please let us know.
If you have your own bike and helmet, you are more than welcome to use these but please ensure your bike is roadworthy. If you have your own bike, you are more than welcome to bring it. Why not get it safety checked for free by our Bike Doctor beforehand? The ride will take place outdoors whatever the weather (except snow and ice) therefore please wear clothes suitable for cycling.
By taking part, you must have the ability to ride a bike, cycle for a short distance and have the ability to operate the bike brakes independently using both hands (if riding independently on a conventional two-wheeled bike). Please let Everybody’s Cycling know if you require an adapted cycle or any other support; we’re here to help.
Please get in touch in advance (by 12 noon the day before the ride) if you require a bike and to chat through your requirements in more detail. Bikes cannot be booked on the day. Pre-booking is essential via Eventbrite for the rides and spaces are limited (up to 6 people). Ages 18+ only.
